Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center in Key West, FL, seeks a Physician Assistant to conduct preliminary patient assessments, obtain histories, and perform comprehensive physical evaluations on new patients. The role includes assisting surgeons as a first or second assistant, and participating in teaching and patient care activities.

The position requires Florida PA licensure, ACLS/BCLS, CPR certification, and an Associate degree with PA licensure; a Bachelor's degree in the field is preferred.

Qualifications

• Certification by NCQA or NCCPA desirable.
• CPR, ACLS, BCLS certifications maintained.

Responsibilities

• Conduct preliminary patient assessments and obtain histories.
• Perform physical assessments on new patients and review prior test results.
• Assist surgeons as a first or second assistant in operative cases.
• Provide surgical support, sterile technique, and instrument handling.
• Adhere to aseptic protocols, ensure patient confidentiality, and maintain documentation.
• Attend monthly department lectures and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Obtain complete history and perform complete physical assessment on new patients. Review current status/complaints. Review results of primary tests evaluating status. review results of tests completed since last visit and note changes.Clinical interface: Facilitate preoperative procedure. Assist with placement of invasive lines as needed. Assist attending surgeon as either a first or second assistant. participate in teaching fundamental operating room techniques including aspect technique, trying knots, Hemostasis, tissue handling, wound closure and operating room techniques. act as a consultant to operating room and house staff personnel concerning surgery protocols and patient care as designated by the supervising physician.Exhibit professional conduct in the provision of patient care. Maintain confidentiality of patient information. Work cooperatively with coworkers, physician and supervisor.
