Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center of Florida, Inc. in Miami Beach, FL is seeking a Physician Assistant to support thoracic surgery. You will perform preliminary patient assessments, review tests, and assist the surgeon as a first or second assistant in the operating room.

Under supervision, maintain sterile technique, manage lines and catheters, and participate in teaching OR practices. Required Florida PA license, NCCPA certification, CPR, and prior thoracic surgical PA experience; on-site benefits

Qualifications

• Florida PA license required.
• Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants desired (NCCPA).
• CPR Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Preliminary assessment of patients and obtaining complete history.
• Assist attending surgeon as first or second assistant in the OR.
• Maintain sterile technique and manage instruments and patient positioning.
• Drape and prep surgical patients; participate in post-operative care as designated.

Obtain complete history and perform complete physical assessment on new patients. Review current status/complaints. Review results of primary tests evaluating status. review results of tests completed since last visit and note changes.* Clinical interface: Facilitate preoperative procedure. Assist with placement of invasive lines as needed. Assist attending surgeon as either a first or second assistant. participate in teaching fundamental operating room techniques including aspect technique, trying knots, Hemostasis, tissue handling, wound closure and operating room techniques. act as a consultant to operating room and house staff personnel concerning surgery protocols and patient care as designated by the supervising physician.* Exhibit professional conduct in the provision of patient care. Maintain confidentiality of patient information. Work cooperatively with coworkers, physician and supervisor.
