Job summary

Cooper University Health Care in New Jersey seeks a dedicated Family Practice Physician Assistant to join the Cooper Care Alliance team. The role focuses on comprehensive, patient-centered outpatient care across all ages, emphasizing prevention and chronic disease management.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree as a Physician Assistant is required.
  • Experience in outpatient/ambulatory care setting is preferred.
  • Experience with electronic health records (Epic) is preferred.
  • Board certification as Physician Assistant is required.
  • Active New Jersey license required.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification required.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.
  • Interest in population health, quality improvement, or teaching is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality primary care to a diverse patient population in an outpatient setting.
  • Conduct physical exams, diagnose illnesses, and develop treatment plans.
  • Prescribe medications and coordinate referrals with specialists as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the EHR system (Epic).
  • Collaborate with nurses, medical assistants, behavioral health, and other team members.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and clinical program meetings.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and regulatory standards.

Short Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Practice Physician Assistant to join our Cooper Care Alliance team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to individuals and families across all ages, focusing on prevention, wellness, and the management of chronic and acute conditions in an outpatient setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based primary care to a diverse patient population.
  • Conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret diagnostic tests.
  • Develop and manage treatment plans, including prescribing medications and coordinating referrals.
  • Promote preventive care and health education to patients and families.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nurses, medical assistants, behavioral health, and specialists.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical meetings.
  • Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

The Physician Assistant is a skilled person, qualified in academic and clinical education to provide patient services under the supervision of a staff physician both in a clinical office and operating room environment.

Education Requirements

Master's Degree as a Physician Assistant is required

Experience Required

Experience in an ambulatory or outpatient care setting preferred.

Experience with electronic health records (e.g., Epic).

License/ Certification Requirements
  • Board certification as Physician Assistant
  • Active New Jersey License
  • American Heart Association BLS
Special Requirements
