Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL seeks a Physician Advisor to lead utilization management and physician engagement across departments. This full-time onsite role requires MD/DO, 5+ years of clinical practice, and leadership experience to promote high-quality, cost-effective care.

The position collaborates with HIM, Revenue Cycle, and Managed Care teams, reviews inpatient days and denials, and provides education on UM protocols. Background checks and Florida background screening apply.

Qualifications

• MD/DO with current medical license and board certification preferred
• 5+ years recent clinical practice experience
• Experience as a Physician Advisor or in a leadership role within healthcare organizations
• Strong communication and analytical skills to support utilization management and payer interactions

Responsibilities

• Educates and advises Utilization Management, HIM, Revenue Cycle, Patient Access, Managed Care teams on UM updates and trends.
• Provides physician-level review of utilization, claims management, and quality assurance for inpatient and outpatient services.
• Supports Chief Medical Officer functions and serves as clinical liaison for clinicians, payers, external providers, and regulatory entities.
• Reviews inpatient days, evaluates utilization patterns, and assists with denial prevention strategies.
• Collaborates with managed care payers and medical directors on denials, appeals, and utilization criteria.
