Job summary

CHRISTUS Health's St. Michael Hospital - Texarkana seeks a Physician Advisor to lead clinical documentation integrity, utilization management, and care management initiatives.

The role collaborates with CM, CDI, and medical staff to optimize Level of Care and MS-DRG assignments while ensuring regulatory compliance and payer alignment. This is a full-time, on-site role with relocation assistance and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 5 years of clinical experience.
• Licensed physician in state of residence and board certified.
• ABQUARP certification preferred; experience in utilization review.
• Experience serving on or chairing a Utilization Management Committee.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Utilization Review Committee and conduct secondary status reviews.
• Collaborate with payor medical directors to resolve medical necessity issues.
• Monitor UM metrics and drive actions to achieve targets.
• Educate physicians and staff on regulatory requirements and billing status.
• Facilitate referrals to continuum of care and mentor UR staff.
• Provide feedback on clinical documentation and participate in leadership meetings.
