Job summary

CHRISTUS Health St. Elizabeth in Beaumont, TX seeks a full-time, in-person Physician Advisor to join the team.

The role focuses on teaching, consulting, and advising Care Management and CDI on physician practice patterns, medical necessity, and documentation to support MS-DRG and LOC decisions. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the physician advisor will collaborate with payers, lead utilization review initiatives, and provide leadership in care management and CDI education.

Qualifications

• Licensed physician with 5+ years of clinical practice.
• Board certified in a clinical specialty.
• Licensed to practice in the state of residence (TX).
• ABQUARP certification preferred.
• Experience in utilization review and care management.
• Served on or chaired a Utilization Management Committee.
• Demonstrated cost-efficient medical practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead Utilization Review Committee with CM Director.
• Perform secondary status reviews for appropriate level of care.
• Engage with payor medical directors to resolve medical necessity issues.
• Monitor UM metrics and drive actions to achieve targets.
• Provide education on regulatory requirements and billing status to physicians.
• Mentor UR Case Managers and educate clinicians on CDI initiatives.
• Assist with ensuring correct LOC designation and appropriate DRG assignments.
• Document reviews and attend Care Management leadership meetings.
