Southcoast Health is seeking a per diem Physical Therapist Assistant to join the home care team in the New Bedford area, focusing on post-operative orthopedic care with Saturday rotation. The role may include additional weekday coverage based on staffing and availability.

Qualifications include an Associate Degree in Physical Therapy, MA PTA licensure, CPR, and at least two years of related experience; strong interpersonal and computer skills are essential.

Overview

We are seeking a per diem Physical Therapist Assistant to join our home care team, with a primary focus on providing post-operative orthopedic care on Saturdays. Weekday coverage may be requested based on staffing needs and your availability. Under the direction of the Clinical Manager and the Registered Physical Therapist, work with patients to prevent disability, relieve pain, develop, improve or restore motor function and maintain maximum physical, emotional, social and mental performance within the person*s capabilities.

Job Details

Hours: Per Diem

Shift: Day shift with Saturday rotation and weekdays as needed; 7:30am - 4:00pm with varied start and end times. Saturday availability needed.

Location: New Bedford and Surrounding Communities

Travel: Driving on average 3 or more times per week required

Responsibilities

• Provide post-operative orthopedic care as part of home care services, with emphasis on Saturdays; weekday coverage may be requested based on staffing needs and availability.
• Under supervision of the Clinical Manager and Registered Physical Therapist, assess patients and contribute to the development and execution of treatment plans to improve motor function and prevent disability.

Qualifications

• An Associates Degree in Physical Therapy is required.
• Two (2) years of related experience required. Home care experience strongly preferred.
• Must possess and demonstrate highly effective interpersonal, customer service and communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills, including experience with various software, database and electronic records programs preferred.
• Must be licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant by the Board of Registration in Medicine of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and may be required in Rhode Island, subject to geographic area assignment.
• CPR certification is required.
• Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and the COVID-19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired.
• Compensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.
