Job summary

Select Medical's Select Specialty Hospital Durham is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to contribute to inpatient post-ICU recovery. Based on Duke Regional Hospital, this full-time role offers a strong orientation, competitive compensation, and opportunities to advance.

You will assist PT services, carry out treatment plans, train patients in mobility and functional activities, and support a clinical ladder, tuition reimbursement, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Valid state PTA license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required by start date.

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivery of physical therapy services including transportation, therapeutic exercises and functional activities.
• Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs as established by the physical therapist (PT).
• Assist the PT in carrying out therapeutic interventions to meet long-term goals (strengthening, balance, mobility, endurance, functional skills).
• Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, or assistive devices.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the delivery of physical therapy services including transportation, therapeutic exercises and functional activities
• Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs as established by the physical therapist (PT)
• Assist the PT in carrying out therapeutic interventions designed to meet the patients’ long-term goals, including strengthening, coordination and balance exercises; posture, endurance/cardiac, functional skills and community re-entry training; joint mobility and muscle lengthening and pain relief
• Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics or assistive devices

Qualifications

• Valid state PTA license
• Possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by start date.
