Job summary

Lodi Creek Post-Acute in Lodi, CA, is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to join our dedicated healthcare team. The PTA will assist Physical Therapists, guide patients through exercises, and help evaluate progress to optimize treatments for residents in a skilled nursing setting.

Qualified candidates hold an Associate’s degree or PTA certificate and a PTA license. Preference given to candidates with skilled nursing experience and a strong commitment to compassionate care and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or PTA certificate required.
  • License to practice Physical Therapy Assistant required.
  • Experience in PTA preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Physical Therapists in providing PT treatments and procedures.
  • Instruct, motivate, safeguard, and assist patients with exercises or activities.
  • Observe and document patient responses and progress for PT review.
  • Coordinate with PT and staff to plan, modify, and coordinate therapy.
  • Communicate treatment plans to caregivers and family members.
  • Assist in transporting and positioning patients for therapy.
  • Apply manual therapy, modalities, and assistive devices as directed.
  • Record equipment use and treatment administration; monitor safety.

The Physical Therapist Assistant will help Physical Therapists provide physical therapy treatments and procedures.

Instructs, motivates, safeguards, and assists patients as they practice exercises or functional activities.

Observes patients during treatments to compile and evaluate data on their responses and progress and provides results to the physical therapist in person or through progress notes.

Confers with physical therapy staff and others to discuss and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment.

Communicates with and instructs caregivers and family members on patient therapeutic activities and treatment plans.

Transports patients to and from treatment areas, lifting and transferring them according to positioning requirements.

Secures patients into or onto therapy equipment.

Administers active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, aquatic physical therapy, and heat, light, sound, and electrical modality treatments such as ultrasound.

Measures patients’ range-of-joint motion, body parts, and vital signs to determine effects of treatments or for patient evaluations.

Monitors operation of equipment and records use of equipment and administration of treatment.

Fits patients for orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices such as crutches.

QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:

Associate’s degree or certification from a physical therapy program that included course study in anatomy and physiology, and clinical experience.

EXPERIENCE:

With Physical Therapy Assistant Experience is PREFERRED

With Skilled Nursing Experience is PREFERRED

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Certificate to practice Physical Therapy Assistant Role REQUIRED
