Job summary

Memorial Healthcare System seeks a certified Physical Therapy Assistant to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Physical Therapist in Miramar, FL. The role supports inpatient and outpatient programs across Memorial Regional Hospital South and associated sites.

The PTA will monitor patient response, document progress, and assist with discharge planning, while educating patients and families about therapies and equipment.

Qualifications

• Accredited PTA program required.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association required.
• Florida PTA license required or in state licensure process.

Responsibilities

Memorial Rehabilitation Institute provides highly specialized care ranging from complex multiple trauma, stroke and brain injury to physical and speech therapy. Inpatient care is offered at Memorial Regional Hospital South, with outpatient care available in five different locations. We also have a home health team and resources for long-term care at Memorial Manor, while also offering therapy for pediatric developmental diagnosis through Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.

Summary

Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, provides physical therapy services.

Responsibilities

• May assume responsibility for student supervision.
• Monitors patient's responses to the treatment plan.
• Regularly communicates patient progress and recommends possible goal revisions to the physical therapist.
• Documents services provided and patient response/progress.
• Assists with patient discharge planning.
• Implements treatment plan developed by supervising therapist using appropriate modalities.
• Seeks consultation as necessary.
• Communicates patient status and recommendations to care team.
• Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
• Provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and community resource programs.
