Job summary

Shreveport Rehabilitation Hospital in Louisiana seeks a Physical Therapy Assistant to support rehabilitation for patients aged 18 and above. You will assess medical status, implement treatment plans, and monitor progress under supervision.

You will educate patients and families on therapy techniques to maximize recovery, collaborating with physicians and therapists in a dynamic inpatient setting.

Qualifications

• Must hold current state licensure as PTA.
• BLS certification from AHA/Red Cross is required (online certification not accepted).
• Inpatient rehabilitation experience is preferred.

Job description

Position Summary:

The Physical Therapy Assistant treats referred patients, ranging in age from 18 years to geriatric who are experiencing rehabilitation diagnosis or conditions requiring rehabilitation. Assists in patient care to assess their medical condition, functional capabilities and limitations and restrictions and potential for rehabilitation.

Administer a treatment program with specific goals determined according to the patients’ capacity and tolerance under the direction of the Physician and Physical Therapist. Educate patients and families in appropriate physical therapy methods.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current state licensure asanPhysical Therapist Assistant
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained from the American Heart Association and/or American RedCross. Online certification is not acceptable

Desired Qualifications:

• Inpatient rehabilitation experience
