The candidate should have an associate degree in PTA studies, PTA licensure in the state, and ideally at least one year of prior PT department experience to support treatment plans and patient progress.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Physical Therapist Assistant studies completed.
• Minimum one year experience in a Physical Therapy Department preferred.
• Current PTA licensure in the state where employed required.

Responsibilities

• Provide PT treatments in medical settings or patient homes under a PT's supervision.
• Administer exercises, massage, heat, cold, electrical and other modalities per plan.
• Instruct patients to improve walking and mobility using assistive devices.
• Document treatments and patient responses in the medical record.
• Maintain records and statistical reports as required.
• Provide inservice education and assist with equipment maintenance.
