Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is seeking an adjunct faculty member in the Physical Therapy program. The position is temporary and part-time, hired each semester as needed to deliver instruction and assessment using standard syllabi.

The adjunct will develop course syllabi, teach scheduled classes, maintain attendance and grading records, and be available to students outside class time. A CCCE/CI requirement and appropriate licensure are specified for candidates.

• Earned bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.
• Academic preparation appropriate to the Physical Therapist Assistant program.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned classes according to the syllabus provided by the School.
• Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught and follow syllabus content and requirements.
• Maintain student attendance and grading records per College policy.
• Be available to students outside scheduled class time to assist and answer questions.
• Use technology such as Canvas and PowerPoint to support instruction.
• Meet all scheduled classes and notify chair in emergencies.
• Adhere to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all activities.

Job description

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School. Report to the Chair of Physical Therapy Pay Rate: $47.35/ contact hour PROGRAM OPERATION: Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes. Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements. Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook. Submit requested information within established timelines.

STUDENTS: Be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions or provide assistance. Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.

INSTRUCTION: Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as Canvas, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate. In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair. Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views.

A qualified clinical education coordinator in the Physical Therapist Assistant program: Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution; and Completed academic preparation appropriate to the program; and Holds professional licensure or certification in the field; and Has a minimum of three years of full-time post-licensure clinical practice of which two years of clinical practice experience must include experience as a CCCE or CI in physical therapy, or a minimum of two years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, and administration in a PT or PTA program. Selected candidate for employment will be subject to pre-employment background checks, including criminal history check, and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcome.
