Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is seeking adjunct faculty to teach and support student learning in assigned courses. These temporary, part-time roles are filled each semester through a pool for future openings.

Adjunct instructors create a learning environment aligned with the college's syllabi, deliver instruction, and assess student progress, while maintaining attendance records and meeting timelines. Availability for student questions outside class time is expected.

Qualifications

  • Earned degree from a regionally accredited institution in a technology/engineering discipline.
  • Two years of directly related work experience.
  • Three years of directly related work experience for related program areas (if applicable).

Responsibilities

  • Teach scheduled classes and prepare course syllabi.
  • Maintain student attendance and grading records.
  • Be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions and provide assistance.
  • Use technology such as Canvas and PowerPoint to deliver instruction.

Job description

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the school. This posting will stay open continuously in order to build a pool of qualified candidates for future openings as Adjunct Instructors. Applicants will not be notified unless there is an actual need to fill the position.

PROGRAM OPERATION

Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes. Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements. Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook. Submits requested information within established timelines.

STUDENTS

Is available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions and provide assistance. Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.

INSTRUCTION

Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as Canvas, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate. In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.

Education Requirements
  • 1. Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution in technology, engineering, engineering technology; or an earned baccalaureate or higher degree directly related to the program's discipline And, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR) And, two years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR); or
  • 2. Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution And, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR) And five years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR); or
  • 3. Possesses an earned associate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution directly related to the program's discipline And, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR) And three years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR)
