Sligo Creek Healthcare in Takoma Park, MD is seeking a motivated Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our rehabilitation team. You will work under a licensed Physical Therapist to help residents achieve maximum independence through therapeutic exercises, mobility training, and safe transfers.

The ideal candidate is client-focused, communicates effectively, and thrives in a collaborative geriatric care setting. Maryland PTA license or eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
• Current Maryland PTA license or eligibility.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate and professional demeanor.
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and assist with resident transfers.
• Excellent time management and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Physical Therapist in implementing care plans and treatment programs.
• Provide therapeutic exercises, ambulation, balance training, and other physical therapy interventions.
• Observe, document, and report residents’ progress to the Physical Therapist.
• Educate residents and families on exercises and safety practices to promote independence.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of therapy equipment and supplies.
• Promote resident engagement and a positive therapeutic experience.
• Work collaboratively with nursing, occupational therapy, and restorative teams to ensure continuity of care.

• Educate residents and families on exercises, mobility techniques, and safety practices to promote independence.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of therapy equipment and supplies.
• Promote resident engagement and a positive therapeutic experience.
• Work collaboratively with nursing, occupational therapy, and restorative teams to ensure continuity of care.
