Position: Part Time Physical Therapy Assistant

Department: Physical Therapy

PURPOSE

The primary purpose of your job as a Physical Therapy Assistant is to perform assigned duties efficiently, following established procedures and supervisor instructions, to maintain a successful department and deliver excellent patient care. The role involves assisting the Physical Therapist in patient care activities and performing delegated procedures appropriate to your education and training. The extent of your participation will depend on the organization structure, size of the physical therapy service, and the individual patient's health needs. You will carry out designated tasks necessary for the operation of the service.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum educational requirement: Successful completion of a two-year college program for Physical Therapy Assistants leading to an Associate Degree, approved by the American Physical Therapy Association. Licensure or registration eligibility in the state of employment.
• Experience is preferred but new graduates are acceptable.
• Physical health suitable for the demands of the job.
• Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, neurology, pathology, psychology, therapeutic exercises, muscle testing, therapy modalities, manual therapy, and goniometric measurements.
• Ability to work with patients of various ages and medical or surgical conditions.
• Ability to respond to emergencies; CPR certification as required.
• This role involves aquatic therapy.
