The Physical Therapy Assistant functions as a member of a student’s educational team to provide comprehensive treatment of impairments in gross motor skills, balance, coordination, strength, mobility, endurance, and other functional school-based activities in preschool and school-aged children. These challenges may limit a child’s ability to safely access their school environment and participate with their peers. The candidate must possess a strong working knowledge of treatment practices, evidence-based research, recommended school-based best practices, environmental adaptations, and expected roles and responsibilities of a Physical Therapy Assistant in an educational setting.
