Job description

Physical Therapy Assistant (Healthcare)

1. Treat patients as directed by the Physical Therapist.
2. Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes per PT Board guidelines.
3. Assist in maintaining the department's cleanliness and organization.
4. Participate in Patient Care and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed.
5. Assist with cleaning and maintenance of the treatment area.
6. Implement treatment plans as prescribed by physicians.
7. Assist nursing staff with training Restorative Aides.
8. Communicate patient progress, issues, and plans with supervisors and healthcare team members.
9. Participate in in-service training programs for staff.
10. Record treatment modifications according to policies and procedures.
11. Educate patients’ families and nursing staff on maintenance programs and caregiver training for discharge preparation.
12. Report equipment issues to ensure proper maintenance.
13. Maintain positive and effective communication with patients, families, staff, and colleagues.

Supervisory Requirements

This position is non-supervisory.

Qualifications

1. Licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant by the state board.
2. Proficient in computer skills, including programs like Casamba and Point Click Care.
3. Ability to read and understand technical procedures, policies, and manuals.
4. Effective communication skills with managers, coworkers, and families.
5. Mathematical skills to handle fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
6. Problem-solving and interpretative reasoning abilities.
7. Must meet continuing education requirements and maintain licensure in good standing.

Physical Demands

Requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, and frequent tasting and smelling. Capable of exerting significant force and performing physical tasks such as climbing, stooping, and crouching.

Work Environment
