Job summary

COLORADO CENTER OF ORTHOPAEDIC EXCELLENCE seeks a Physical Therapy Assistant to perform daily assessments and implement care plans. You will educate patients and families, assist with discharge planning, and collaborate with physical therapists and on-site physicians to promote evidence-based care.

Job description

Improving the quality of life through prescribed exercise, hands-on care, and patient education, by examining each person and then developing a treatment plan to improve their ability to move, reduce or manage pain, restore function, and prevent disability. This position works closely with physical therapists and on site surgeons.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Performs and documents daily assessments of patient’s condition
• Follows a plan of care which is appropriate to problems in identified and involves the patient/family according to their capabilities and desires
• Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits. Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services and treatment settings. Provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs.
• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
• Promotes evidenced based care through collaboration with physical therapists and physicians on site.
