Job summary

PRN Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy, an affiliate of The Weston Group, is seeking a per diem Physical Therapist Assistant to partner with patients on restoring motion and maximizing function across multiple facilities in Troy, NY.

You will document care accurately, follow treatment plans, maintain patient dignity, and collaborate with therapists, physicians, POAs, and families to ensure safe, effective rehabilitation.

Qualifications

• Physical Therapy Assistants must possess an Associate of Science degree from an accredited program.
• Licensed in the state practicing by the Board of Physical Therapy.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate skill in physical therapy techniques and treat patients effectively.
• Maintain patient dignity and modesty during treatments.
• Explain treatments and discuss reasons for therapy with patients.
• Follow precautions and contraindications for treatment.
• Provide accurate and timely patient records and billing documentation.
• Communicate significant changes in patient progress to the team.
• Collaborate with physicians, POA, nurses, and other therapists as needed.
• Notify facility staff and family about equipment use and status.
• Attend patient-related meetings and uphold insurance guidelines.
• Support department operations and suggest improvements.

We're looking for a Per diem Physical Therapist Assistant to act as the patient's partner throughout the trip of restoring motion and ensuring that the client will function at their personal best. As a result, you will maximize the quality of life and movement potential within the promotion, prevention, diagnosis, treatment or intervention, and rehabilitation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Demonstrate skill in the use and proper choice of physical therapy techniques and treats patients effectively with good response.
  • Maintains and enhances patient dignity and modesty during treatments
  • Shows appropriate therapist-patient rapport explaining the treatments and discussing the reasons for occupational therapy with patient, etc.
  • Follows accepted precautions and contraindications for treatment.
  • Utilizes appropriate therapeutic techniques.
• Provide accurate and timely patient records.
  • Completes daily documentation procedures assuring that all services are appropriately accounted for from a clinical and billing perspective.
  • Communicates and documents significant changes in patient progress as a result of treatment and accepts modified treatment plan if needed.
  • Documents equipment provided, home programs and handouts given to the patient.
  • Documents all communication with physicians and POA concerning patient's status.
• Communicate with others maintaining a professional attitude to assure quality care.
  • If directed by the Physical Therapist, contacts physicians as needed to clarify diagnosis or orders, change treatment, or discharge.
  • Consults patient's POA, nurses, social workers, occupational and speech therapists, and physicians as appropriate and needed.
  • Notifies facility personnel and family as to use of equipment.
  • Attends patient related meetings in accordance with facility policy.
• Demonstrate knowledge of insurance guidelines as related to applicable rehabilitation services.
• Perform all other duties and functions necessary for the maintenance of efficient, economic and quality operation of the department.
  • Projects and maintains a professional appearance.
  • Makes suggestions for department improvement and assists in development of these as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities utilizing support personnel where appropriate to perform activities not requiring a licensed Physical Therapist.

Physical Therapy Assistants must possess an appropriate Associate of Science degree from an accredited institution

LICENSURE OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS

Physical Therapy Assistants must be licensed in the state practicing by the Board of Physical Therapy and provide an acceptable Criminal Background Check.
