Job summary

University of Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor is seeking a part-time Physical Therapist to evaluate and treat patients across orthopedics, cardiology and pulmonary services. You will develop focused treatment plans to restore function and relieve pain using established protocols.

Responsibilities include interpreting referrals, monitoring progress, instructing patients and families, maintaining records and collaborating with senior therapists.

Qualifications

Licensed as a Physical Therapist in Michigan.
If licensed before 2016, a Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or basic MS.
If licensed on or after 2016, Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT).
Completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Program and Clinical Internship.

Responsibilities

Interpret referrals and identify precautions for PT evaluation and treatment.
Develop focused, individually designed treatment plans.
Progress patients and modify treatment based on needs.
Monitor patient status and respond to changes.
Instruct patients and families in home treatment.
Maintain records of evaluation, treatment and discharge.
Potentially conduct research under the PT Director.
Contribute to teaching materials and procedures used in physical therapy.
Process patient care orders using the electronic system when required.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

To evaluate and treat patients with diseases, injuries, disorders, and disabilities, to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance using physical therapy procedures and exercise.

This will be a part-time position on the Cardiovascular Acute Care PT Team. We are looking for therapists interested in a variety of patient populations that include Orthopedic Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Medicine, Cardiology, and Pulmonary Medicine. We have a structured orientation process for each new area with ongoing mentoring by both Senior Therapists and APTA Board Certified Specialists in Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy.

Responsibilities*

Interpret referrals and ensure necessary precautions are identified so that appropriate physical therapy evaluation and treatment can be provided.
Develop focused individually designed treatment plans based on the patient?s functional goals.
Utilizes independent clinical decision making to progress patients and modify treatment dependingupon the patient?s needs and medical status.
Monitor patients throughout the provision of treatment and respond appropriately to changes in patient status.
Instruct patients and their families in home treatment programs.
Maintain records of patient evaluation, treatment and discharge status.
May conduct research under the guidance of a Physical Therapy Director.
May conduct special projects contributing to teaching materials and procedures used in physical therapy.
Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas.

Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications*

If licensed prior to 2016: Bachelors degree in Physical Therapy or basic MS.
If licensed on or after 2016: Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy (DPT).
Completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Program and Clinical Internship
Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the State of Michigan.

This position requires Primary Source Verification.

Underfill Qualifications

An Associate or Bachelor's degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position, as well as a necessary doctorate degree in Physical Therapy, and are actively pursuing the appropriate certification/registration/licensure for their profession.

Desired Qualifications*

Demonstrated proficiency in patient treatment.
Experience in an acute care setting at an academic medical center or large tertiary hospital; new graduates with strong clinical rotations will be considered.

Work Schedule
