Job description

Job Summary

Serves as a leader of change agent. Performs patient evaluations and administers interventions in department or ambulatory clinics. Performs related duties such as departmental performance improvement and clinical education, and serves as a clinical supervisor to assistant and support personnel. Also serves as a specialist to a program or product line. Adheres to practice acts, regulations, departmental policies and procedures, and documentation and reimbursement rules applicable to ambulatory care. Manages the patient appointment system and collaborates with the front office on service authorization, certification, and recertification. Demonstrates competence to adapt work and customer service to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety, and other developmental needs of patients.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Education/Specialized Training/Licensure: Transitional DPT or PhD in Physical Therapy. Current Texas license. Specialty Certification. Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program.
  2. Work Experience (Years and Area): Four (4) years of work experience as a PT. Candidates with at least 1 year as a PT and 6 years as a PTA, who have completed a bridge program to be licensed as a PT, will be considered. Half (1/2) credit for prior PTA experience, up to 5 years total.
  3. Equipment Operated: Competency in Physical Therapy Equipment.
Special Requirements
  1. Communication Skills: Above average verbal skills (heavy public contact), exceptional verbal skills (public speaking), bilingual skills preferred (Spanish, Vietnamese), and strong writing/composing skills (reports, correspondence).
  2. Other Skills: Analytical skills, CRT, medical terminology, research, proficiency in P.C., MS Word.
  3. Work Schedule: Flexible.
  4. Other Requirements: Previous work experience or internship in an ambulatory setting is preferred.
