Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve birth to 3 through Early Intervention.
  • Evaluate motor and sensory skills to determine eligibility for special education services.
  • Evaluate motor (gross and adaptive) and sensory development to determine PT services needed.
  • Instruct, train, and monitor classroom staff and parents in motor activities, accommodations, and modifications.
  • Design and fabricate adaptive devices to enhance independence in the educational setting.
  • Team with other personnel and agencies to provide coordinated and effective services.
  • Participate in IFSP and IEP meetings to support development of child educational plans.
  • Implement motor activities and accommodations that support IFSP/IEP goals.

Early Intervention Physical Therapist– Douglas ESD

Douglas ESD is accepting applications for an Early Intervention Physical Therapist for our Douglas County Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education program.

JOB SUMMARY: Provide physical therapy assessment, therapy, and consultative services in the area of physical therapy. Services will be provided in Early Intervention for children with motor and sensory impairments.

SCHEDULE/WORK YEAR: 190 days per year, 5 days per week PLUS an additional 5 weeks of extended days in July and August. (Exact hours to be determined once summer program schedules are released.)

SALARY: $63,333 - $89,195 per year dependent upon relevant verifiable experience (Equivalent to: $333.33- $469.45 per day or $41.67 - $58.68 per hour)

DUTIES

  • Serving children birth to 3 through Early Intervention.
  • Evaluate student motor and sensory skills to determine eligibility for special education services using standardized assessment instruments.
  • Evaluate motor (gross and adaptive) and sensory development to determine appropriate type and amount of physical therapy services required to insure reasonable educational progress.
  • Instruct, train, and monitor classroom staff and parents in the implementation of appropriate motor activities, accommodations, and modifications.
  • Design and fabricate adaptive devices and equipment to enhance independence in the educational setting.
  • Team with other personnel and agencies to provide coordinated and effective services.
  • Participate in IFSP and IEP meetings to assist with the development of individual child educational plans.
  • Implement motor activities, accommodations, and modifications that support IFSP and IEP goals.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Degree in Physical Therapy required with graduation from an accredited physical therapy school. Must hold an Oregon Physical Therapist License.

Background Check Conducted
