Visalia Post Acute in Visalia, CA is seeking a motivated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our therapy team and help improve residents' mobility and independence. This role collaborates with residents and an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.

The PTA assists the Physical Therapist, completes accurate documentation, and adheres to California regulations. License in CA and CPR are required; EMR experience with Net Health or PCC is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree from an accredited PTA program is required.
  • Experience in a skilled nursing facility is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems such as Net Health and PCC is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Treat residents as directed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Complete timely, accurate documentation in accordance with facility and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a safe treatment environment by following infection control and equipment protocols.
  • Communicate with the supervising Physical Therapist and interdisciplinary team regarding resident progress and discharge planning.
  • Educate residents and families on treatment plans and home exercise programs.

Visalia Post Acute - Visalia, CA

Pay Range: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour (DOE)

Visalia Post Acute is seeking a motivated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our therapy team. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with residents and an interdisciplinary team to help improve mobility, independence, and overall quality of life.

General Purpose

The Physical Therapist Assistant assists the Physical Therapist with resident-related activities and provides direct resident care in accordance with physician orders, treatment plans, and regulatory guidelines.

Essential Duties

  • Treat residents as directed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Complete timely, accurate, and compliant documentation in accordance with facility, regulatory, and payer requirements.
  • Maintain a safe treatment environment by following infection control, safety, and equipment protocols.
  • Participate in resident care conferences and rehabilitation meetings as needed.
  • Remain compliant with California laws and regulations related to physical therapy practice.
  • Assist nursing staff with training and support of Restorative Aides.
  • Communicate regularly with the supervising Physical Therapist and interdisciplinary team regarding resident progress, goals, and discharge planning.
  • Provide in-service training programs for facility staff as needed.
  • Educate residents, families, and caregivers on treatment plans, home exercise programs, safety techniques, and fall prevention strategies.
  • Recommend and assist in obtaining durable medical equipment (e.g., walkers, canes, splints, grab bars).
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information at all times.
  • Report equipment issues to ensure proper maintenance and safety.
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships with residents, families, staff, and colleagues.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
  • Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program required.
  • Experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems such as Net Health and PointClickCare (PCC) preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Current, active PTA license in the state of California.
  • Must maintain license in good standing.
  • Must meet continuing education requirements per state regulations.
  • CPR certification required (if applicable).
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical procedures and policy manuals.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with residents, families, and staff.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
Physical Demands
  • Frequent standing and walking; occasional sitting.
  • Ability to reach, push, pull, and lift equipment and assist residents.
  • Ability to exert up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds continuously.
  • Ability to assist with resident mobility and transfers using safe patient handling techniques.
  • Requires effective communication, including talking and hearing, as well as visual and sensory awareness for safe care delivery.
Work Environment
