Responsibilities

The Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA, LPTA) performs treatments, provides exercise instruction, and patient education aimed at improving or enhancing patient well-being, following the established plan of care.

• Follow all state laws governing physical therapy in home care, perform only procedures qualified and trained for, and recommend changes to the plan of care to the supervising PT.
• Instruct and assist patients with active/passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait, functional activities, ADLs, transfers, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observe, record, and report patient responses and condition changes to the supervising PT, nurse, or physician. Coordinate care with healthcare team members as appropriate.
• Instruct patients, families, caregivers, and team members within the scope of physical therapy assistance.

Education and Experience

License Requirements:

• Current license, registration, or certification to assist in physical therapy practice in FL.
• CPR certification is required.
• Valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
