Responsibilities

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA, LPTA) performs treatments, provides exercise instruction, and patient education to improve or enhance patient well-being, following the established plan of care.

• Follow all state laws governing physical therapy in home care, perform only procedures qualified and trained for, and recommend changes to the supervising PT as needed.
• Instruct and assist patients with active/passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait, functional activities, ADL, transfers, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observe, record, and report patient responses and condition changes to the supervising PT, nurse, and/or physician. Coordinate care with the healthcare team.
• Educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members within scope of practice.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

• Current license, registration, or certification to assist in physical therapy practice in FL.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
