Responsibilities

The Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA, LPTA) performs treatments, provides exercise instruction, and educates patients to improve their well-being, following the established plan of care.

• Follow all state laws governing physical therapy in home care, perform only procedures qualified and trained for, and recommend plan modifications to the supervising PT.

• Instruct and assist patients with active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait, functional activities, activities of daily living (ADL), transfers, safety, and prosthetic training.

• Observe, document, and report patient responses and condition changes to the supervising PT, nurse, or physician. Coordinate care with the healthcare team as appropriate.

• Educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members within the PTA's scope of practice.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

• Current license, registration, or certification to practice physical therapy in Florida.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
