Assists Physical Therapist with all patient treatments for in-patients, outpatients, and contract services.
Work is performed in a clinical Rehabilitation Department setting and in resident rooms, requiring contact with staff, physicians, residents' families, and the public. Requires walking up to 95% of the workday. Must be capable of lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving up to 50 pounds or more. Finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, vision, and hearing must be within normal range with correction.
Requires knowledge of Physical Therapy normally acquired through a two-year degree from an accredited school for Physical Therapist Assistants. Must possess a New York State license to practice or a temporary license. Skills to effectively gather information from patient charts and patients, implement procedures, and document treatment effects are necessary. Interpersonal skills are essential to communicate accurately with patients and family members, and to identify and report changes in patient conditions to the appropriate supervisor.
