Job summary

Sinai Post Acute is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to support residents with PT programs under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The role emphasizes functional independence, compassionate care, and collaboration with the rehab team.

Responsibilities include administering modalities and exercises, guiding families, and ensuring accurate documentation while maintaining high-quality service in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program certified by the American Physical Therapy Association.
• Licensed as required by the State.

Responsibilities

• Implements resident-specific treatment plans under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.
• Provides individualized physical therapy treatments including modalities and exercises.
• Acts as an assistant to the Physical Therapist during tests, evaluations, and complex procedures.
• Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the physical therapist.
• Instructs residents, families and caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapy program.
• Works with rehabilitation team to develop programs tailored to each resident.
• Maintains resident documentation in a timely manner.
• Attends care and staffing meetings as a PT representative under the PT's direction.
• Reports equipment needs and repairs as necessary.
• Ensures compassionate service and respects residents’ rights.

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) POSITION SUMMARY:

The Physical Therapist Assistant implements physical therapy programs and provides physical therapy treatments to residents to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1 Implements resident’s individualized treatment plan as defined by the primary Physical Therapist;

2 Provides individualized physical therapy treatments including modalities and exercises;

3 Acts as an assistant to the Physical Therapist when the Physical Therapist is performing tests, evaluations, and complex procedures;

4 Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the physical therapist;

5 Instructs residents, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Physical Therapist;

6 Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident;

7 Maintains appropriate and timely resident and non-resident documentation for all residents treated;

8 Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing and other required meetings as a representative of physical therapy, under the direction of the physical therapist;

9 Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary;

10 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1 Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program certified by the American Physical Therapy Association.

2 Licensed as required by the State.
