Job summary

Sinai Post Acute Nursing and Rehab Center is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to implement physical therapy programs and provide treatments to residents under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.

You will help residents increase independence, participate in the care plan, document care activities, and support a compassionate, team-focused environment. Must graduate from an accredited PTA program and be licensed as required by the State.

Responsibilities

• Implements resident’s individualized treatment plan under the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Provides PT treatments including modalities and exercises.
• Acts as an assistant to the Physical Therapist during tests and evaluations.
• Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in coordination with the PT.
• Instructs residents and caregivers in PT techniques under PT supervision.
• Collaborates with the rehab team to align programs with residents' needs.
• Maintains timely documentation for all treated residents.
• Attends care and staff meetings as a PT representative.
• Reports repairs or issues with equipment as needed.
• Delivers high-quality, compassionate care respecting residents' rights.

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) POSITION SUMMARY

The Physical Therapist Assistant implements physical therapy programs and provides physical therapy treatments to residents to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

• 1 Implements resident’s individualized treatment plan as defined by the primary Physical Therapist;
• 2 Provides individualized physical therapy treatments including modalities and exercises;
• 3 Acts as an assistant to the Physical Therapist when the Physical Therapist is performing tests, evaluations, and complex procedures;
• 4 Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the physical therapist;
• 5 Instructs residents, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Physical Therapist;
• 6 Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident;
• 7 Maintains appropriate and timely resident and non-resident documentation for all residents treated;
• 8 Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing and other required meetings as a representative of physical therapy, under the direction of the physical therapist;
• 9 Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary;
• 10 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• 1 Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program certified by the American Physical Therapy Association.
• 2 Licensed as required by the State.

• 2 Good verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) PERFORMS RELATED DUTIES

• 1 Interacts with residents, families, visitors and employees.
