Job summary

Sterling Therapy Providers is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to support residents under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA will implement treatment plans, administer modalities, and help residents improve independence and function in daily activities.

This on-site role offers full-time or part-time options with benefits including health insurance, a 401K, PTO, holiday pay, and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Implements resident’s individualized treatment plan under the supervision of the PT.
• Provides PT treatments including modalities and exercises.
• Assists the PT during tests, evaluations, and complex procedures.
• Organizes and facilitates treatment sessions with the therapy team.
• Educates residents and caregivers on treatment techniques.
• Maintains timely documentation for all residents treated.
• Attends care, staffing and related meetings as a PT representative.
• Cleans and reports any equipment needs or repairs.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Physical Therapist Assistant implements physical therapy programs and provides physical therapy treatments to residents to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Implements resident’s individualized treatment plan as defined by the primary Physical Therapist;
2. Provides individualized physical therapy treatments including modalities and exercises;
3. Acts as an assistant to the Physical Therapist when the Physical Therapist is performing tests, evaluations, and complex procedures;
4. Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the physical therapist;
5. Instructs residents, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Physical Therapist;
6. Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident;
7. Maintains appropriate and timely resident and non-resident documentation for all residents treated;
8. Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing and other required meetings as a representative of physical therapy, under the direction of the physical therapist;
9. Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary;
10. Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program certified by the American Physical Therapy Association.
2. Licensed as required by the State.

PERFORMS RELATED DUTIES:

1. Interacts with residents, families, visitors and employees.
2. Carries out other tasks as requested in situations where hands-on intervention/participation may be required.
