Responsibilities
- Assist the Physical Therapist in implementing treatment interventions.
- Administer therapeutic exercises and activities to improve patients' strength, mobility, and function.
- Provide training to individuals and others involved in their rehabilitation, and document the results of the training.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Support individuals' treatment plans by documenting and reporting status changes to the multidisciplinary team members as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Degree from an accredited physical therapy assistant training program.
- Current Physical Therapist Assistant certification in the state of practice.
- Current CPR certification in accordance with state regulations.
- Knowledge of evidence-based therapy interventions.
- Familiarity with assisted living, independent living, geriatrics, and/or home health.
- One year of experience preferred.
- New graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to move, lift, or transfer patients, which may involve lifting up to 100 pounds following safety procedures.
- Duties require fine motor skills, visual acuity, and walking/standing for extended periods.
- Additional physical requirements include pushing/pulling, bending/stooping, reaching, kneeling, and frequent repositioning.
- A health screen or examination may be required prior to assignment and periodically thereafter, depending on specific location policies and regulations, to verify physical capability with or without reasonable accommodations.
