Summary

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides skilled services under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. Responsibilities include patient education, ensuring safety, documentation, and compliance with regulations, following state scope of practice.

Qualifications & Attributes

• Current licensed PTA in the state of employment.
• At least one year of experience as a PTA in an acute setting.
• Home care experience preferred.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of therapy best practices.
• Ability to make sound physical therapy judgments.
• Attention to detail and observant nature.
• Reliable work ethic and punctuality.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.

Major Areas of Responsibility

• Deliver skilled services per the Physical Therapist’s plan of care.
• Monitor and report patient progress.
• Perform prescribed physical therapy procedures.
• Assess functional problems and assist in goal achievement.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare team.
• Participate in case conferences and coordinate care.
• Recommend and evaluate prosthetic/orthotic devices.
• Educate staff, patients, and families on therapy techniques and equipment use.
• Document all treatments and assessments accurately and timely.

Essential Functions

• Travel to patient locations as scheduled.
• Complete documentation within specified timeframes.
• Follow the plan of care within scope of practice.

Compensation is per visit, covering all related activities including preparation, travel, supplies, and communication.

Health & Physical Requirements

Must meet physical position requirements, with evidence of current TB testing. May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens. Travel required. Physical demands include reading, speaking, writing, dexterity, hearing, seeing, walking, sitting, bending, standing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
