Job summary

Sterling Therapy Providers in Jersey City is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to implement physical therapy programs and provide treatments to residents under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.

The PTA will perform modalities, educate residents and families, document progress, and collaborate with the rehab team to promote independence and optimal functioning.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program.
• Licensed as required by the State.

Responsibilities

• Implements resident’s individualized treatment plan as defined by the primary Physical Therapist.
• Provides individualized physical therapy treatments including modalities and exercises.
• Acts as an assistant to the Physical Therapist when tests, evaluations, and complex procedures are performed.
• Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the physical therapist.
• Instructs residents, families, and other caregivers in PT techniques under supervision.
• Works with rehab team to develop programs aligned with resident needs.
• Maintains resident documentation for all treated residents.
• Attends resident care and staff meetings as a PT representative.
• Cleans, maintains, and reports equipment repair needs.
• Ensures high-quality care in a compassionate atmosphere.

Rate: $35 to $40 Per Hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Physical Therapist Assistant implements physical therapy programs and provides physical therapy treatments to residents to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• 1 Implements resident’s individualized treatment plan as defined by the primary Physical Therapist;
• 2 Provides individualized physical therapy treatments including modalities and exercises;
• 3 Acts as an assistant to the Physical Therapist when the Physical Therapist is performing tests, evaluations, and complex procedures;
• 4 Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the physical therapist;
• 5 Instructs residents, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Physical Therapist;
• 6 Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident;
• 7 Maintains appropriate and timely resident and non-resident documentation for all residents treated;
• 8 Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing and other required meetings as a representative of physical therapy, under the direction of the physical therapist;
• 9 Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary;
• 10 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• 1 Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program certified by the American Physical Therapy Association.
• 2 Licensed as required by the State.

JOB SKILLS:

• 1 Good organizational skills and time management skills.
• 2 Good verbal and written communication skills.

PERFORMS RELATED DUTIES:

• 1 Interacts with residents, families, visitors and employees.
• 2 Carries out other tasks as requested in situations where hands-on intervention/participation may be required.
