Job summary

Ariel Bay Rehabilitation and Healthcare in New Jersey seeks a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant to implement physical therapy programs and provide treatments to residents under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.

You will collaborate with the rehabilitation team to develop resident-specific activities, educate residents and families, and maintain accurate documentation while ensuring compassionate, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PTA program.
• Licensed as required by the State.

Responsibilities

• Implement resident’s individualized treatment plan as defined by the PT.
• Provide individualized physical therapy treatments including modalities and exercises.
• Assist the PT during tests, evaluations and complex procedures.
• Organize and facilitate treatment groups with the PT.
• Instruct residents, families and caregivers in PT techniques under the supervision of the PT.
• Collaborate with rehabilitation team to develop programs for residents.
• Maintain resident documentation for all residents treated.
• Attend and contribute to resident care and staffing meetings as a representative of physical therapy.
• Clean and report repair needs for equipment.
• Ensure residents receive high quality service in a compassionate atmosphere.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Physical Therapist Assistant implements physical therapy programs and provides physical therapy treatments to residents to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. 1 Implements resident’s individualized treatment plan as defined by the primary Physical Therapist;
2. 2 Provides individualized physical therapy treatments including modalities and exercises;
3. 3 Acts as an assistant to the Physical Therapist when the Physical Therapist is performing tests, evaluations, and complex procedures;
4. 4 Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the physical therapist;
5. 5 Instructs residents, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Physical Therapist;
6. 6 Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident;
7. 7 Maintains appropriate and timely resident and non-resident documentation for all residents treated;
8. 8 Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing and other required meetings as a representative of physical therapy, under the direction of the physical therapist;
9. 9 Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary;
10. 10 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. 1 Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program certified by the American Physical Therapy Association.
2. 2 Licensed as required by the State.
