Job summary

Southpoint Rehabilitation And Healthcare Center in Durham, NC is hiring a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) for a full-time position. The PTA will provide comprehensive patient care under the supervision of a PT in a long-term care setting.

Responsibilities include documenting progress, coordinating with the PT and care team, scheduling, and ensuring proper billing and compliance with state guidelines. Growth opportunities and a supportive team environment are highlighted.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited university with a BA or Associates degree in Physical Therapy recognized by the APTA.
• Holds current license and/or registration in the state

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive treatment to patients under the supervision of a PT according to state practice guidelines.
• Assist PT in identifying appropriate patients and referring them to rehab accordingly.
• Document patient’s daily participation and progress in progress notes with PT co-signature.
• Ensure MD orders are obtained for treatments, recertifications and discharges.
• Assist with other documentation as per state guidelines.
• Attend facility and rehab meetings as indicated by Supervisor.
• Act as a rehab delegate to the interdisciplinary team.
• Participate in scheduling of patients as indicated.
• Complete billing and bill patients ethically and accurately for PT services.
• Cover other therapists’ caseload during absences as necessary.
• Supervise junior PTA staff or students as needed.
• Maintain professional relationships with staff, patients and families.
• Provide in-service education on patient care or PT services as needed.
• Comply with facility safety policies and patient confidentiality rules.
• Report to work on time and maintain a professional image.
• Adhere to productivity requirements.
• Maintain positive work atmosphere with colleagues and managers.
• Perform other duties assigned by Supervisor or Regional Manager.
• Comply with policies re: lunch, sick and time off notification.
• Adhere to all facility written and oral policies and procedures.
