Job summary

The Rehabilitation & Nursing Center at Everett is seeking a Full-time Physical Therapy Assistant in Everett, MA. The role involves providing PT care under the supervision of a licensed PT, with emphasis on geriatric residents and collaborative team-based approaches.

Qualifications

• Must have a current unencumbered MA license as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
• Graduate of an accredited school with an Associate’s degree in Physical Therapy.
• Geriatric experience preferred.
• A current unrestricted driver’s license and dependable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provides Physical Therapy plan of treatments and modalities according to the established treatment plans under on-site supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
• Communicate effectively with residents with varying impairments (visual, speech, cognitive, etc.).
• Train/supervise and discipline subordinate staff as needed.
• Relate information regarding a resident’s condition to the care team.
• Assist in planning, organizing and implementing department goals, objectives and procedures.
• Document resident progress toward Physical Therapy goals and complete daily activity schedules and progress notes.
• Provide resident, staff and family education as directed.

Essential Job Functions:

• Provides Physical Therapy plan of treatments and modalities according to the established treatment plans as assigned, under the on-site supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist
• Must effectively communicate with residents with visual, speech, auditory, cognitive, physical and emotional impairments
• Must possess the ability to train/supervise and discipline subordinate staff
• Must be able to relate information regarding a resident’s condition
• Must possess the ability to assist in planning, organizing and implementing the goals, objectives and policies and procedures of the department
• Documents resident progress toward Physical Therapy goals
• Completes Daily Activity Schedule and progress notes per facility policy and as directed by the Physical Therapist
• Provides resident, staff and family education as directed
• Complies with Federal and State regulations related to rehabilitation therapy
• Completes all documentation to comply with professional standard and regulatory requirements
• Strives to meet productivity / efficiency goals and self-initiates corrective action plan for non-attainment
• Assists in ordering necessary equipment for the facility and residents
• Maintains current professional knowledge of practice of Physcial Therapy and practices within acceptable professional standards
• Complies with all facility policies and procedures
• Maintains confidentiality of facility and resident information
• Respects all residents all resident rights
• Reports all instances of potential resident abuse, neglect, and misappropriation of resident property immediately
• Follows sanitation and infection control policies and procedures
