Job Summary:

The Physical Therapist Assistant will help Physical Therapists provide physical therapy treatments and procedures. They may assist in developing treatment plans, carry out routine functions, document progress, and modify treatments within the scope of a physical therapist’s established plans, in accordance with state laws.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Instruct, motivate, safeguard, and assist patients during exercises or activities, and observe responses to compile data for treatment progress.
• Collaborate with therapy staff and communicate with caregivers and family members about treatment plans.
• Transport and position patients safely, securing them on therapy equipment.
• Administer therapeutic exercises, massage, aquatic therapy, and modality treatments such as ultrasound.
• Measure joint motion, vital signs, and other parameters for evaluation and treatment effects.
• Monitor equipment operation and record treatment data accurately.
• Fit patients with orthopedic supports and assistive devices.

• Ability to travel as needed.

Education and Experience:

• Associate’s degree from an accredited physical therapy program.

• Proficiency with applicable standards.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged standing and walking.
• Ability to lift, position, and transfer patients.
• Frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
