Summary
The Home Health PRN Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) performs treatment, provides exercise instruction, and patient education aimed at improving or enhancing the patient's well-being, following the established plan of care.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, the PTA is responsible for:
Following the plan of care, the PTA instructs and aids patients in evidence-based treatment within their scope and according to state laws. They observe, record, and report the patient's response to treatment and any changes in condition to the supervising PT, nurse supervisor, and/or physician. They coordinate care with other healthcare team members as appropriate.
The PTA also instructs patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare team members in therapy areas within their scope. They visit patients within their service area and nearby agencies as needed, complete progress notes for each visit, and submit them per policy.
Flexibility in scheduling is required, including participation in weekend rotations and holiday availability to meet patient needs. The PTA participates in staff conferences and committees as requested, adheres to therapy standards, and performs all other duties as assigned.
