Job summary

Northern Cochise Community Hospital in Willcox, AZ is seeking a PRN Physical Therapist Assistant to support the Physical Therapy team in a small rural hospital setting. The PTA provides patient care across in-patient and out-patient services, helping restore function, mobility, and relieve pain, in collaboration with therapists.

Qualified candidates will be a graduate of an APTA-approved PTA program with an AZ PTA license and a current BLS certificate.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Physical Therapy Assistants Program approved by the APTA.
• Current unrestricted Physical Therapist Assistant license from the Arizona State Board.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required and maintained.

Summary

Functions as the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in a team and mission-based setting to provide assistant to the Physical Therapist with related activities and direct patient care for in-patients and out-patients of a (small) Critical Access Hospital (CAH) at Northern Cochise Community Hospital (NCCH). PTA provides services that help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease. PTA must project a professional appearance and be well organized with strong critical thinking skills. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

This position requires a commitment to teamwork, collaboration and department scheduling needs i.e. good attendance, attitude, customer services, communication skills, timely deadlines, etc,

Supervision Required

Works under the direct supervision of the Rehabilitation Services Manager/Physical Therapist (RSM/PT) or designated administrator.

Education and/or Experience

Graduate of a Physical Therapy Assistants Program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Current unrestricted Physical Therapist Assistant license from the Arizona State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners, required.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate (American Heart Association), required – must maintain current certification and recertify prior to expiration date.
