Addus HomeCare, Inc. is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team in the Lawrence and Lewis, Mt Pleasant areas. This role focuses on providing compassionate care in patients' homes, managing chronic conditions, and helping them achieve independence.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Current PTA license in the state of practice.
• At least one year of experience as a PTA preferred.
• Current CPR certification.

What You’ll Do

• Provide direct physical therapy services under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist and in accordance with the physician’s plan of care and state practice guidelines
• Assist patients in relieving pain, restoring function, and achieving maximum performance
• Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfer activities, and functional mobility tasks
• Administer non-complex treatments such as therapeutic exercises, massage, traction, and physical modalities (heat, cold, water, and electrical stimulation)
• Instruct, motivate, and support patients in improving functional abilities
• Observe patient progress and report findings to the supervising Physical Therapist
• Assist with clinical documentation and ensure timely submission of notes and progress reports
• Report changes in patient condition to the supervising Physical Therapist and Director of Nursing/Director of Therapy
• Educate patients on the use of assistive devices such as wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, and prosthetic or orthotic devices

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (Associate’s degree in science or applied science) approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
• Current PTA license in the state of practice
• At least one (1) year of experience as a PTA (preferred)
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to perform home visits and provide care in a home environment
• Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and current automobile insurance
