Job summary

Crisp Regional Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to join an interdisciplinary team in providing high-quality patient care under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.

The PTA will participate in treatment planning, patient progress reporting, and documentation in acute care or skilled nursing settings, with potential home health responsibilities as directed. Candidates should have an accredited PTA program, licensure, and BLS certification, with up to one year

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
• Up to one year of work-related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a hospital and/or skilled nursing facility setting preferred.
• Requires a current state license as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• Requires a current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).

Responsibilities

• Provides physical therapy treatments according to the physical therapists’ plan in acute care and/or skilled nursing facility settings.
• May provide treatments in additional settings including home health at the department Director’s discretion.
• Communicates with manager and interdisciplinary team regarding patient progress, problems, or plans.
• Records daily treatment notes and charges accurately and timely.
• Supervises Physical Therapy Aides in direct patient care and related activities.
• Meets production requirements for physical therapy rendered as defined by the organization.
• Complies with the Georgia State Physical Therapy Practice Act.
• Supports safety, infection control and performance improvement initiatives.
• Maintains professional image with staff, patients, and visitors.
• Attends professional development programs and in-service trainings and meets minimum continuing education requirements.

Job description

Under the leadership of the departmental Director and/or Manager, the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is anactive member of the interdisciplinary team providing high-quality patient care. The PTA will work under thedirection and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT). The PTA must be able to collaborate with otherprofessional disciplines as well as interact with the patient, family members, and significant others.

Basic Qualifications:

• Education:

Completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.

• Experience:

Up to one year of work-related experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training,and experience in a hospital and/or skilled nursing facility setting preferred.

• Licensure, Registrations & Certifications:

Requires a current state license as a Physical Therapist Assistant.

Requires a current certification in Basic Life Support.

• Provides physical therapy treatments according to the physical therapists’ treatment plan in the acute care and/or skilled nursing facility setting. May provide treatments in additional settings including but not limited to home health at the discretion of the department Director.
• Communicates with manager and other health care interdisciplinary team members regarding patient progress, problems or plans.
• Records daily treatment notes and other required documentation timely and completely. Records treatment charges daily and completes charge tickets in accurate and timely manner.
• Supervises Physical Therapy Aides in direct patient care and related activities as requested.
• Meeting production requirements for physical therapy rendered as defined by the organization.
• Complies with the Georgia State Physical Therapy Practice Act.
• Assumes responsibility for safety, infection control and performance improvement as part of CRHS’s efforts to provide quality care and services. Performs all associated duties, responsibilities, and tasks.
• Presents a professional image to CRHS’s co-workers, clinical and medical staff members, patients, families, and visitors.
• Attends professional development programs and in-service training and meets the minimum requirement for continuing professional education.
