The Challenge (Job Summary):

As the Physical Therapist Assistant, you will support patient care by working under the direction and supervision of licensed physical therapists. You will help patients recover from injuries or illnesses regain movement, improve function, and manage pain. This role is essential in delivering high‑quality, compassionate care while maintaining a safe, organized, and supportive clinical environment.

You’ll get to:

  • Observe patients before, during, and after therapy and report status updates to the supervising physical therapist.
  • Guide patients through prescribed therapeutic exercises.
  • Treat patients using techniques such as massage, stretching, and mobility support.
  • Assist patients with devices and equipment including walkers and other mobility aids.
  • Educate patients and family members on post‑treatment expectations and home care.
  • Maintain clean, organized treatment areas and prepare therapy equipment.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

  • Observes and documents patient responses to treatment and communicates findings to the physical therapist.
  • Assist patients with exercises and therapeutic activities according to the established plan of care.
  • Performs treatment techniques including massage, stretching, and mobility support.
  • Utilizes assistive devices and equipment to support patient mobility and safety.
  • Provides patient and family education regarding post‑treatment care and expectations.
  • Cleans and organizes treatment areas; sets up therapy equipment as needed.
  • Maintains confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Clinical rotation experience in outpatient, inpatient, or rehabilitation settings preferred.

For patient care–related roles, the position may also require standing for long periods and the ability to lift or assist patients, medical equipment, or supplies — generally up to 25–50 pounds, as needed to support safe and effective care.
