Position Overview

Job Title: Physical Therapist Assistant

Department: Operations

Reports To: Rehab Director, EDO

Summary

Under supervision of a Physical Therapist, provides treatment to patients to help regain mobility, increase strength, and reduce pain, following established treatment plans and procedures. Performs related clerical and service duties.

Qualifications

Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Education & Certification: An Associate's Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program and current state license/registration.

Essential Duties

• Assist in developing and implementing patient care plans.
• Manage daily care and therapy routines for patients.
• Guide patients through prescribed exercises and apply therapeutic modalities as prescribed.
• Assist with gait training and perform therapeutic activities.
• Monitor patient condition and document progress.
• Refer patients for reevaluation and prepare referrals.
• Communicate with the Physical Therapist regarding treatment plans and patient progress.
• Participate in team meetings and provide training on equipment and treatment rationale.
• Maintain a clean and safe treatment environment.
• Assist with scheduling and maintaining patient census.
• Follow safety, infection control, and ethical standards.
• Promote a respectful, team-oriented work environment.
• Ensure punctuality and effective communication.
• Participate in ongoing professional development.

Additional Information

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, perform transfers, and repetitive upper extremity movements. May be exposed to unsanitary conditions and high-crime areas.
