Job summary

Willow Valley Communities, a premier senior living and care provider in Willow Street, PA, is seeking a PRN Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our therapy team and help residents regain strength and independence.

Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, you will deliver prescribed therapies across inpatient and outpatient settings, document progress, and educate patients and families on home programs.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college for physical therapist assistance.
  • Current license as a Physical Therapist Assistant in Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities

  • Model customer service with care and professionalism toward residents and team members.
  • Administer therapeutic treatments and modalities as prescribed to improve function.
  • Review referrals, patient conditions, and records to determine appropriate PT treatment.

What You'll Do

As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will:

  • Model exceptional customer service while demonstrating care, compassion, and trust toward residents and fellow team members.
  • Administer active and passive therapeutic treatments, including heat, light, sound, water, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, ultraviolet, infrared, diathermy, and hot/cold pack modalities to improve and maintain function.
  • Review physician referrals, patient conditions, and medical records to determine appropriate physical therapy treatment.
  • Assess and measure patient strength, range of motion, motor development, muscle tone, sensory awareness, functional capacity, and respiratory/circulatory efficiency to support treatment planning.
  • Develop and prepare written plans of care based on patient evaluations.
  • Instruct, motivate, and assist patients with postural and mobility-related activities, as well as the use of assistive devices such as crutches, walkers, wheelchairs, canes, and prostheses.
  • Evaluate treatment effectiveness and adjust interventions to maximize outcomes.
  • Administer massage and traction therapies as indicated.
  • Accurately document treatments, patient responses, and progress.
  • Educate patients and families on continuing treatment procedures at home when appropriate.
  • Requisition necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Conduct staff in-service training on physical therapy techniques and objectives.
  • Evaluate, fit, and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices while recommending modifications to the Orthotist.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  • Orient, instruct, and direct physical therapy assistants, aides, and students.
  • Partner effectively with therapists, nursing staff, patients, and caregivers to optimize outcomes.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
  • Maintain knowledge of PPS, MDS, Medicare Part B, and other applicable reimbursement systems.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local standards of care, ethics, and physical therapy practice policies.
  • Participate in meetings, seminars, and professional development activities.
  • Complete timely clinical documentation, including functional goal-setting and therapeutic plans.
  • Complete billing and administrative documentation accurately and on time.
  • Perform resident screens in conjunction with annual MDS schedules and nursing referrals.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) from an accredited college for physical therapist assistance. Computer literacy required.
  • All physical therapist assistants must possess a current license. All physical therapist assistants possessing the necessary years of experience and training are required to be either in the process of obtaining or possess their indirect supervision physical therapist assistant license.Current Pennsylvania Indirect Physical Therapy Assistant license required
