Job summary

BayCare Health System’s Acute Physical Therapist Assistant Pool/PRN position at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, FL seeks a compassionate PTA to support therapists in delivering care across acute settings.

You will implement treatment plans, guide exercises, document progress, and collaborate with nurses, physicians, and therapists, maintaining safety and compliance. This role is on-site with variable shifts and occasional weekend work.

Qualifications

• BLS certification is required.
• PTA license or temporary licensure within 6 months.
• Associate's degree in Physical Therapy is required.
• 1 year PTA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.
• Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional ADL mobility interventions.
• Monitor and document patient progress, reporting changes to the supervising therapist.
• Educate patients and families on exercises and techniques to support recovery.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nurses, physicians, and occupational therapists.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during therapy sessions.
• Adhere to infection control and hospital policies.

Acute Physical Therapist Assistant Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in implementing treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.

Qualifications:

• Experience in acute care or hospital setting preferred.

• Or PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant) Temporary and licensure within 6 months
• Required Associate's Physical Therapy
• Preferred 1-year Physical Therapy Assistant
