Job summary

Career Links is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our skilled nursing facility rehabilitation team. The PTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to deliver high-quality, evidence-based interventions that maximize mobility and independence for residents.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team to support residents recovering from illness, injury, or surgery, while documenting progress and ensuring compliance with regulatory

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited PTA program recognized by CAPTE.
  • Current Iowa PTA license or eligibility for Iowa licensure.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Rehabilitation or long-term care experience preferred, but not required.
  • Compassionate approach to care.

Responsibilities

  • Implement treatment plans established by the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Assist residents with therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfer training, balance activities, and functional mobility interventions.
  • Monitor and document residents' progress toward treatment goals.
  • Communicate with therapy team, nursing staff, physicians, and families regarding resident status and care needs.
  • Ensure documentation meets facility, state, federal, and payer requirements.
  • Participate in care planning meetings, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Educate residents and caregivers on safety techniques, mobility strategies, and home exercise programs.
  • Support rehabilitation goals of the facility with professionalism and compassion.

Position Summary

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program recognized by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE)
  • Current Iowa Physical Therapist Assistant license or eligibility for Iowa licensure
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care experience preferred, but not required
  • Compassionate approach to care with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to assist residents with mobility, transfers, and therapeutic activities
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance as needed
