PeaceHealth St. Josephs Medical Center in Bellingham, WA is seeking a Physical Therapist for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Variable position. Salary range is $48.52–$72.78 per hour, with hiring rate dependent on education and experience. Relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

PeaceHealth St. Josephs Medical Center in Bellingham, WA is seeking a Physical Therapist - Acute Therapy for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Variable position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $48.52 – $72.78. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Located 90 minutes north of Seattle and 30 minutes south of British Columbia, Canada, this idyllic city has been rated as one of America's most desirable communities by Money, Outside, Kiplinger, Forbes, and National Geographic magazines. Head to Mount Baker for a day in the snow. Tour the San Juan Islands by sea kayak or sailboat. Trek the North Cascades on foot. Stay in town to explore the shops and cafes of historic Fairhaven and Downtown and then catch a show at Mount Baker Theater – you can do it all in Bellingham!

Eligible for either 8 or 10 hour shifts. Requires working 2 full weekends a month (or 4 Saturdays or 4 Sundays).

Job Summary

Responsible for the evaluation of patients, determining plan-of-care and goals of treatment, participating in treatment of patients within the scope of Physical Therapy. May provide oversight to therapy assistants and/or students in following the plan-of-care and treatment of patients appropriate to the age of the patient served; may provide supervision to therapy aides and/or volunteers. Works as part of a patient care team toward the best outcomes for the patient.

What you will do:
  • Evaluates assigned patients and establishes a treatment plan and goals, using data from a variety of sources, such as patient records, interviews, observation, and team members.
  • Provides patient treatment according to plan of care and modifies plan to meet patient needs, and updates plan as appropriate.
  • Completes documentation accurately, timely, according to regulatory and state licensure requirements, and within professional standards.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals as necessary to ensure smooth continuous care of the patients. May act as a liaison with nursing, medical and other therapy staffs to facilitate problem solving and coordination of other services and act as an educational resource.
  • May mentor and provide oversight to new caregivers, physical therapist assistants, and/or therapy aides. Provides clinical instruction and training to students.
  • Recommends and participates in development of new services and programs, quality improvement and monitoring activities.
  • May participate in staff meetings, patient care meetings, educational in-services, caregiver orientation and other professional activities.
What you bring:
Education
  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate Degree Required: Physical Therapyaccredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education or closely related field (foreign equivalent accepted)
Credentials
  • Required: Physical Therapist License State of Washington
  • Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support
Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
  • Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
  • Lifting (non-patient)/carrying occasionally up to 25 lbs.
  • Push/Pull: 1-25 lbs. of force occasionally (i.e., moving equipment).
  • Stooping/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling occasionally.
  • Rehabilitation staff working with patients with rehabilitation goals involving bed mobility, transfers and gait may use other appropriate and approved safe techniques and equipment in the course of the rehabilitation process if determined clinically appropriate.
Environmental Conditions
  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
  • Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.
Mental/Visual
  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
