The Physical Therapist 2 (PT 2) reports to the Rehab Services Supervisor 2 for Acute Care Physical Therapy and functions as a journey-level clinician. This position requires a minimum of two years of experience as a licensed physical therapist, with demonstrated competency across a variety of clinical settings.

The PT 2 is responsible for independent planning, implementing, and evaluating physical therapy interventions for patients with complex medical needs, ensuring high-quality care in accordance with departmental and regulatory standards.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • California Licensed Physical Therapist
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification OR a UC Davis Health CPR certification
  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program with a Bachelor’s degree or higher from a U.S. institution, OR completion of all requirements for foreign-trained Physical Therapists eligible to practice in the United States
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a licensed Physical Therapist, with demonstrated practice in diverse clinical settings
  • Demonstrated experience working in an Acute Care Physical Therapy setting
  • Experienced in documentation via Electronic Medical Record
  • Must be able to perform all responsibilities of a licensed Physical Therapist as required and assigned by PM&R (Physical Medicine and Rehab Leadership
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Must see well enough to observe patient reactions and read relevant monitors and device settings
  • Ability to clearly and concisely document in writing, all relevant information into the patient's medical record
  • Effectively communicate with patients and staff throughout the day
  • Must possess the physical strength to assist with patient mobility
  • Must possess sufficient mobility to traverse the distances required to serve patients throughout the institution
  • Must have basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Credentialed Clinical Instructor Certification through American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) or willingness to obtain a CI

Key Responsibilities

  • 90% - Provide Physical Therapy services to patients at all ages in a variety of clinical settings (including Acute Care, ICU and Inpatient Rehabilitation) as assigned through the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
  • 5% - Educational Activities
  • 5% - Miscellaneous Assignment as Required

Work Environment
