Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist to provide age-appropriate care for patients from newborn to 20 years within the scope of practice and established standards. Works as part of the rehabilitation team to deliver safe, effective therapy.

The role requires collaboration, thorough documentation, and supervision of therapy assistants, with travel to clinical locations as needed. A Georgia PT license and BLS are required within 30 days of employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school.
• Georgia physical therapy license.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates patients and meets established standards.
• Develops and implements plan of care with evidence-based interventions.
• Completes comprehensive documentation with accuracy and timeliness.
• Involves caregivers with education tailored to learning needs.
• Provides supervision to PT assistants and students as assigned.

Job Description

Provides the highest quality age-appropriate care for patients newborn to 20 years of age within the scope of practice and established standards for physical therapy. Functions effectively as a member of the rehabilitation team. Supports the mission of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

• Experience in pediatric or related physical therapy

Education

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school

Certification Summary

• Georgia physical therapy license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association within 30 days of employment

Job Responsibilities

• Evaluates patients, meeting established standards.
• Develops appropriate plan of care and implements effective treatment interventions founded in evidence-based practice so that functional outcomes are achieved.
• Completes documentation, meeting departmental standards for content, accuracy, and timeliness.
• Involves the patient’s caregivers in their care, offering effective education and documentation tailored to the learning needs of both the patient and their caregivers.
• Provides supervision to Physical Therapist assistants, Rehabilitation Aides, and students as assigned.
• Demonstrates competencies that incorporate age-specific guidelines, including N=Neonate (less than 30 days), I=Infant (30 days to 1 year), EC = Early Childhood (1-5 years), LC = Late Childhood (5-13 years), A = Adolescent (13-18 years), AD = Adult (greater than 18 years as applicable), and ALL = all ages.
• Participates in maintaining and monitoring the work environment to ensure a continual state of accreditation readiness.
• Travels to clinical locations to provide patient care based on patient census, program development, and/or contract obligations with physician practices.
